Backstage Brawl at Summer Jam: The Truth About C-Black's Altercation with the Dream Chasers
Ever wonder what really happens backstage at major hip-hop concerts? The recent Summer Jam Hot 97 event became a hotbed of controversy when footage emerged showing an altercation between C-Black and members of Meek Mill's Dream Chasers crew. Now, for the first time, the young cameraman who captured that viral moment speaks out.
In this raw and unfiltered conversation, 20-year-old content creator MP takes us behind the scenes of Summer Jam, revealing how C-Black invited him backstage to network and build his brand. With remarkable candor, MP describes meeting hip-hop heavyweights like Jim Jones, Meek Mill, and Jadakiss before witnessing the confrontation that would soon dominate social media feeds across the culture.
MP dismantles several widely-circulated claims about the incident. According to his firsthand account, C-Black wasn't overwhelmed by thirty attackers but actually "gave them niggas so much of their money" in the fight. He categorically denies reports that C-Black had dreads pulled out during the altercation, calling those statements "all cap." Most surprisingly, MP reveals he never intended to share the footage publicly—it was accidentally sent while exchanging texts about Summer Jam content.
Throughout our conversation, MP's remorse is palpable as he repeatedly apologizes to C-Black and takes "full accountability" for his role in the footage becoming public. Despite the fallout, he expresses continued respect for C-Black and even recounts how simply mentioning C-Black's name had opened doors for him with other artists just days before the incident. The interview provides crucial context to a viral moment that had previously been shaped primarily by speculation and secondhand accounts.

Black started introducing us to people. I ain't going to lie to you. I was so shocked that Black knew all these people and he had the power to get us back there, and to not only get us back there but to introduce us to them and they know him. People in Staten Island don't really have it like that, bro. That was not only to get us back to you but to introduce us to him and they know him. Yeah, like like people in Staten Island people in Staten Island don't really have it like that, bro. Like that was indifferent, like you know what I'm saying. Like that showed that Black is that nigga for real.
Speaker 1:Yeah, definitely. Oh yeah, so that took place with the Dream Chasers and you know exactly what happened and who was involved.
Speaker 2:Alright, so C-Black, me, c-black and Roddy Redwood and etc. It's all in the hallway and shit like that you heard. So the nigga Black asked me to put his phone on the charger and shit like that you heard. So I put it on the charger and started using the bathroom and shit, you heard After that what happened After that? Right, we just chilling, et cetera. I'm just going back and forth seeing what's going on, checking the scenery, just trying to see everything you heard. As I walked towards that way again, I hear Black's phone ringing and then I told Black that his phone was ringing and shit, he went in the bathroom you know what I'm saying and he went in.
Speaker 2:I think after that nigga Trav and Meek Millinord and niggas start walking in and shit, you heard, I think Trav was trying to clear it out, some shit like that. I think Trav was trying to clear it out and shit like that you heard, and I asked Trav to say it her, and that's travis saying that the nigga black axe trap like yo, what's up man, yo, what's up man, and travel some like shit, like he basically moving like hollywood. I'm saying like on some shit like yo, what you mean, what's up that? I'm saying like I'm saying, like basically, like he don't know, black, like he's, you know, bought some shit like that, he basically he moved kind of standoffish, though you know know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:So as that's happening, the nigga Black says yo, you don't fuck with me, no more, you don't remember me. I don't remember every little thing that was said because it was so much transpiring fast and shit in a moment. So I pulled my phone out you feel me? Just to get some content. You know what I'm saying. I'm a content creator. You know what I'm saying. I didn't know nothing was going to go. I didn't know nothing was going to like get out of it. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you didn't think things would get out of hand how they would?
Speaker 2:I don't know. I see Meek Mill's rap. I see Meek Mill coming in and out the spot. The nigga Ray Ray comes in. He tries like like break it up and he doesn't realize he did that cause more commotion, you heard it made it bigger than it was you talking about the comedian Ray Ray?
Speaker 2:yeah, yeah, comedian Ray Ray facts okay, and then, as like nigga, they still talking and shit, nigga Trav sees my phone, you know, yeah, he's trying to like sees my phone, you know, yeah, he's trying to like push my phone away. Speaker 1:Why he was upset that you was recording.
Speaker 2:I think so. I think it was set down and recorded.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:So Black was trying to stick up for me and et cetera. So I think I don't know who, I don't remember who really, who really swung on first, da-da-da-da, but I know where they started fighting and shit like that.
Speaker 1:It was a lot of niggas, bro, in the video it wasn't 30 niggas on him, so how many niggas would you say was on him in in general?
Speaker 2:it was a lot. I I don't have, I don't have a specific number, but there was a lot of niggas. It didn't show in the video but trust, I was there. You know I'm saying my eyes better than the camera. I just know that.
Speaker 1:So how did the fight take place? Like did they get the best of Black? What happened? Explain to me what happened.
Speaker 2:I'm going to keep it 100 with you. Black was giving them niggas so much of their money I didn't even know how to react. I'm like, oh shit, like this nigga was like on some hoax. He was smashing them niggas. The way he got through that whole way was punching them niggas. It was like a fucking movie scene, my nigga. It didn't seem realistic, bro. That scene was some shit you see out of a movie or some shit like that. That nigga Black is as strong as a fucking ox. That nigga's a different breed.
Speaker 1:When they say that they knocked his hat off.
Speaker 2:Hat off, you know, I'm saying he was punching him mad, fucking hard, bro. I gave him his hat back, I gave him his full, I gave him his phone back, the nigga shoes, the entire shit, nigga. Of course his nigga's gonna fall and shit like that. I gave him everything back. You feel me, I gave him everything back, bro, because he was fighting. He was fighting his ass. So he was fighting like there was no tomorrow, bro, he wasn't getting his ass. I'm telling you he wasn't, bro.
Speaker 1:So you're saying he was holding his?
Speaker 2:hell yeah, nigga hell yeah.
Speaker 1:So when they say that they pulled out five of his dreads, did you see dreads on the floor? Did you see?
Speaker 2:bro.
Speaker 1:No bro, that's all lies, bro, all cap bro and who was the one that gave him back his sneaker? Nigga me, cause when I spoke to Trav, trav said he gave him back his sneaker.
Speaker 2:Nigga me Because when I spoke to Trav, Trav said he gave him back his sneaker. Bro, Trav is a liar bro, Everything that.
Speaker 1:Black had. I gave back to him, bro. What happened after the fight took place and how did the fight end?
Speaker 2:I think the security started coming in and the boys came in. They kind of removed Black and me from that certain spot and shit. But, believe it or not, we didn't get kicked out of the building, black didn't get kicked out of the building and I didn't get kicked out of the building.
Speaker 1:So where'd y'all go afterwards?
Speaker 2:We were just chilling in the lobby.
Speaker 1:I need like, not far like right near the stage for real. So what did you do after the fight took place?
Speaker 2:First thing. First, you was texting me and shit like that. Honestly speaking, this is a fact. I didn't even mean to send you that shit, bro, it was just. I used to write texts. I'm like, oh shit, I said give me a second, this nigga is full. I didn't even mean to send you that shit, bro, it was just. I used to write texts. I'm like, oh shit, I said give me a second. The nigga, meek Mill, this nigga is his fault. You feel me? I remember he was texting me.
Speaker 2:Yo, give me some footage and shit for the summer jam and shit like that, because it's like a post shot. Like you was trying to show us love. Could we backstage at did that? I didn't mean to do that shit purposely. I made a mistake. It is what it is. But listen, I was not trying to get C Black in, no fucking trouble. I wasn't trying to get him in, no shit bro. Why would I do that if he brought me to Summer Jam? He tried to do my copy creator shit. I was in. I was really waiting. I was recording to wait to see Meek Mill come inside. I was really trying to get Meek in the video, bro.
Speaker 1:So did you get to chop it up with Meek or say what's up to Meek after?
Speaker 2:Nah, I just seen him, though, bro. Nah, I didn't get to talk to him. That's why I'm really tight Like damn. That shit went completely left. That wasn't supposed to go down like that, bro. Yeah, I really apologize to Blacks. That was not my intentions, bro. That's not what I was trying to do. I was just trying to do content, bro. I'm not into. I don't be on that tape or tell me, bro, you feel me, I'm not going to destroy you with grimy-ass. I know Blacks since I was 15 years old. You know what I'm saying. I old. You know what I'm saying. I'm 20 years old. I know people keep on saying I'm 16. I'm 20 years old and it's not what I was meaning to do. I came to have a good time and do content. So how'd you?
Speaker 1:get back home from the event.
Speaker 2:I spent the night in my grandmother's house because she lived in Elizabeth.
Speaker 1:How did Black leave the event?
Speaker 2:I think Black drove home, or he got in a Black truck home, I don't know for sure.
Speaker 1:Okay, so overall, how was your first summer jam?
Speaker 2:Movie.
Speaker 1:Would you go back with Black next year? You want me to keep it a buck? Yeah, keep it a buck. Yeah, you would go back and partake in the backstage activities with C-Black again.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. I'll tell you what I wouldn't do, though I would have tried harder to break it up. And I ain't going to lie to you. If I could go back in time, I would have gone between them. Niggas like yo, bro, black we out. Bro, I don't care. Black well me up. My nigga. I already did try to save his life. He would have to be mad at me then, bro god, because for me black is my man. I should, shouldn't have went down like that. But I feel like like you know I'm saying like I feel like I could have done way. I did bad, but, bro, I did horrible. Bro. I feel like I could have did way better and held my big bro down better than I did. Bro, I ain't going to keep it on you, with you, bro.
Speaker 1:I respect that.
Speaker 2:I definitely respect that. I ain't going to lie. I sincerely apologize to C-Black. I apologize to my friends and my family. I don't want to make something I sold out now because I didn't. Bro Trav was begging for that video. I ain't sending him shit, bro.
Speaker 1:When you say Trav, who's Trav, the nigga that black fork? The member of Meek's entourage? Yeah, and he was begging you for the video when at Not really begging, but he kept asking me shit for it.
Speaker 2:I told him no on the gram.
Speaker 1:Why was he asking for the video?
Speaker 2:I think he was trying to see his point of view about what happened. He said he had the video, but I just didn't believe him. I throw it to 48 because he didn't have it, so niggas want to send it to him. So I thought he was trying to get it out of me. I'm too small for that gang.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I feel you. So you never sent it to him, hell no.
Speaker 2:Allegedly he said he got all the footage. If it is, then it's not mine.
Speaker 1:So what else did Trav say to you? That was it. You have a message for Trav and the Dream Chasers.
Speaker 2:I ain't gonna lie to you, I ain't gonna love you, I ain't gonna understand them niggas bro, I'm a regular nigga. Them niggas got money bro. I can't really say too much to them niggas bro. It was just. It was just a misunderstanding going wrong, bro, respectfully bro, and you have to go down like that. You know what I'm saying and you have to go. And I took it down like that.
